Creating Small Gifts for Pride | My colourful adventure

When it comes to Pride, there’s nothing quite like a little DIY magic to celebrate love, acceptance, and all things fabulous. For a Pride party, I created some incense holders, coasters, and bowls. Let’s just say, the crafting adventure was as colourful as the pride flag!

I gathered my materials: air-dry clay, glazes, and a motley crew of sculpting tools. First up were the incense holders. I shaped the clay into designs that would hold the incense sticks securely. Once I’d moulded them, I let them dry while daydreaming about how they would look. Then came the fun part—decorating! I channelled my inner artist and painted the holders in vibrant colours blending the reds, oranges, yellows, greens, blues, and purples, I could feel the creativity flowing through my fingertips. It was like a therapy session but way more colourful and with less sitting on a couch!

Then it was time to tackle some bowls! I wanted these to be functional yet good for holding snacks or small treasures (because who doesn’t need a bowl for their glitter collection?). I shaped the clay into various sizes, letting my imagination run wild. After they dried, I painted them, again, in a gradient of rainbow colours. Once the paint was set, I finished them off with a glossy glaze.

As I worked on each piece, I couldn’t help but think about the connection to the values that Pride represents. It was a  reminder of the beauty of community and the importance of celebrating our identities. Plus, I was having a blast getting my hands messy!
When the day of the Pride party finally arrived, I was excited to present these handmade gifts. Who knew crafting with clay could be such a fabulous way to celebrate love and community? So here’s to more rainbow creations, good times, and a whole lot of joy! 🌈✨
